Volunteer


Volunteering is one of the best ways to become involved at St. Paul's L'Amoreaux Centre. People from all walks of life join together, share their time, energy and knowledge in every department at St. Paul's. Over 400 volunteers contribute about 43,000 hours to St. Paul's annually. Volunteers are not paid - not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless Through volunteering, you can meet a community of interesting people, learn new skills and achieve a sense of accomplishment. St. Paul's L'Amoreaux Centre looks for people who are willing to make a minimum commitment of fifty hours within a six month period to help seniors. We are always looking for volunteers who are enthusiastic, like working as part of a team, but are also able to work independently.

Student placement

St. Paul's also cooperates with educational and governmental institutions to provide learning experiences for students.

Student placement criteria

  • Must submit completed application form and required documents to volunteer services and agree to abide by the volunteer services policy and procedures
  • Submit the learning plan and objectives to the supervising staff
  • Attend orientation sessions

Current Volunteer Opportunities

  • Board Position
  • Interpreter
    Assist with both English and Cantonese translation for health promotion event or trips
  • Office Assistants
    Perform clerical work, data entry and telephone calling. Need to translate and type Chinese and English on the computer.
  • Meals-on-Wheels Driver
    Deliver hot meals to residents and community clients.
    Transportation Drivers
    Take seniors to medical and essential appointments.
  • Visitors
    Visit lonely or disabled elderly and develop a warm, friendly relationship while encouraging independence.
  • Adult Day Programs Assistants
    Assist and support staff with supervised social, recreational and therapeutic activities and provide a supportive environment for frail elderly.

How to join our volunteer team

  1. Registration: Call our customer service desk at 416-493-3333 to register the coming Volunteer Information Session.
  2. Volunteer Application Form: Complete a Volunteer Application Form which may be picked up at the customer service desk at 3333 Finch Ave East, or download and print from the bottom of this page then bring it with you to the Information Session.
  3. Interview: Application Form is reviewed with an interview.

Please Note: You may be required to complete a Police Reference Check.
